We need more information. What is the style of your table, chairs? Do you have a rug, paint or wallpaper, chandelier? Could you take a picture?

I love Asian with mahogany.

I do too, but for this room, not "the one". The dining room is open to the foyer and great room, sepaerated by columns. I do have an asian chest in the foyer and great room and various asian artifacts, so I get where u r going! The room is 12.5x16ish. The colors are warm gingerbread w/cream trim. I am trying to take it from olde world to more contemporary but stay to the elegant/funky vibe we have. The table is South Cone Toscana 8' rectangular and the chandelier is Corbett, Graffiti. So that will tell you I am eclectic. I am liking Hooker's Melange mirrored chest that unfortunately is only 44"(I can get a great deal on it only through Sunday so time is ticking and I would put 2 together) but I just saw one on Overstock(of all places) that is called the Devon metal buffet and it has an industrial chic(kinda steampunk look. Also could sell out soon. Our home has very nice pieces mixed w/asian antiques and different styles of artwork(some is a little odd,LOL) so doing something a littel different is ok w/us. I have been searching for YEARS for the perfect buffet and have to make a decision. As I said earlier, I am concerned that I will have a strong similar linear line going on if I go w/the 2 Hooker chests(88x39x18) where the metal buffet is 63x36x18. Is an 84"table and 88" buffet too close even though i have dark,heavy mahogany-lower with higher mirrored buffet? Thanks for your help. BTW, I do have a traditional rug and gold, contemporary 52" high back chairs-both of which I plan on replacing after I decide on my new greatroom sofas/ lg sectional choice which I'll bug you about afterward ;)

It appears the Hooker chest is a much darker brown than your table. Perhaps the other mirrored buffet will work better with your paint color, table and chandelier. The buffet is currently on sale for around $1300+.

Neither of these is the the one I may get is more like the bottom one, contemporary, but mirror w/silver wood. I will try to put it up. I guess my real question is," is an 88" buffet too similar in length to my 84" table(although most dining room pics on Houzz show buffets the same length as the table) and am I crazy to be butting 2 chests together-they meet at the countertop and legs, but there will be a small gap between the 2 chests)." I would not recommend two chests placed together that have a gap in between. As for the length of your buffet vs the table, that decision would depend on the buffet and a look at the rest of the room. It may well be a smaller piece would be better. If your room is long and narrow, the 88" and 84" running side by side could create a railroad station effect. Also the height of the piece makes a difference. I suggested the Amelie because it is a good size, nice height, has good lines and is not a traditional wood piece.
