rooting rose trimmings

Hi,

I live in zone 5b southern Ontario and when it stays cold consistently I will trim some of my overly tall rose bushes before I apply topsoil and mulch over them for the winter.Is it worth trying to root some of the trimmings?Has anyone tried burying the cuttings deeply in their vegetable patch to store over the winter?Or would the cuttings keep in the fridge using the burrito method?Thanks for any advice.
