Hi meboggs, the garbage disposal will come with a flange to hold in the disposer. Once you have that part you will not need a strainer. A regular basket strainer will not work with a disposal unless you purchase a special set - the 441232 from Blanco.

This sink's sides seem VERY thin. About 5/8" (15mm)?? Is that correct, because the pictures don't seem to reflect that at all?

based on the specs posted Dec 18, 2015, the sides of the sink are over 1.5inch. what dimension is 15mm??
