Two more Cattleyas in trouble

last modified: 10 years ago

I think I posted last year asking about Catt psbs that turn black at their base. Well this malady has struck again, found the plants this morning while watering. Might be able to save the large plant by doing some drastic surgery, but for a tiny three bulb division that I just bought it's not going to make it. All three of the bulbs are affected. The plant is Blc Sea Urchin. It had been doing so well, then this malady struck.....with being such a small division it didn't have a chance.

Does anyone know what causes this and more importantly will it affect the other plants? I have four more small divisions that were occupying the same plant shelf indoors.

These two plants weren't growing near each other, the large one being in my small GH, and the other little one indoors.

I was being so careful with Sea Urchin and I'm sick to know rI've lost it
