Dear Arif,

I wouldn't store them in damp peat, as I'd worry about rot. Could you just store them loosely (in a box?) and replant in Feb? Would be an interesting trial.

I also have cultivars that go dormant and have not clue why some don't and some do. I leave them in the ground year round. I would plant them back. They trauma of being uprooted then replanted again, plus their young age (going by bulb size) might cause them not to bloom next season but possibly the following. No biggie.

I think if they were mine and I lived in your climate I would just replant them while their roots are still fresh. If they're not out of the ground too long they should be just fine. You could leave them out, store them and try to force dormancy but why bother!? They look good and healthy and some of them are quite a good size so I'd pop them back in the ground! Donna☺☺

Blooms of Dec. to Feb. last much longer than those of April (normal bloom time) so there was a time when I tried every thing suggested by anyone. I gave up as most methods failed or were not worth the effort ( I re-plant them out doors and they stay dormant until the ground warms up ). Once I left some bulbs in a dark store room and forgot, come April I found them blooming sitting on the shelf.

Washed dipped in fungicide and dried, I have decided to chill them for 4 weeks and plant them in pots {groups of 5), keep them in warm room and see....

Dear Arif, please be sure to share results. I have some bulbs in the ground, but...and I knew this would happen....possums, raccoons, and other "critters" dug them up and scattered them about. Since I am so careful with tags, this is why I don't put any of my labeled hybrids in the ground. Texas....home of too many destructive critters who love to dig in my flower beds (my house backs up to woods, and I really like the animals, but wish they'd leave my plants alone!).
