Nearly every item you can imagine has reviews on line, just type it in with reviews and because sometimes those reviews are promoted by the companies, try doing complaints also.

i will also tell you the name of a company that i think you should research. I have not personally used them, but the independent reviews have been excellent and the very few complaints seem to be relative to shipping, not necessarily a factory problem. their name is Homereserve.com. apparently people buy them - extraordinarily reasonable as a first couch for apt or dorm and then 7-10 years later are moving them to their homes. they have awards, are american and green. apparently you can take your piece and change the arms in a few years, or the fabric etc. couches start at $300+. If you use them please let me know. i would love to have first hand reviews on the topic.

another source I found is Bauq.com they give the top couches under a certain amount. another source is something called similar too. type in what you like it will try to come up with everything like it. Of course all these sources do not guarantee quality. And that is my problem. I do not know what does, since a really good couch runs $15000 up. Horchow might be a good source, but i am going by who it looks like their clientele would be. i only know that 95% of the places we see are not it.

Perhaps your best best for that would be a high end designer, because they are whom many of the high end manufacturers deal with i think.

I am a staunch supporter of Flexsteel line of sofas. Their Kasmire material is soft and resists stains! My 1.5 year old sofa cushions are still firm, basically it looks brand new... Two dogs and 4 kids too!

I bought a CR Lane sofa about 8 months ago. I've not been impressed. More maintenance than my 12 year old Broyhill ever was. I'm constantly fluffing pillows or swapping the insides of the back cushions as mine are attached. The one seat of the sofa which is most used no longer sits firmly as the center does. I'd really hoped for a long term investment with this piece but not sure it will be what I hoped for.
