My husband and I are trying to decide whether to put a fire pit on our patio. Some concerns are:

• It will look dated
• A gas fire pit will not actually give off much heat
• We will never use it.

We are considering a built-in fire pit with seating all around. We live in Northern California, so our evenings tend to be a bit chilly.
