Hi all,

Another weekend has passed and I own 4 new Hoya.

lacunosa, inconspicua, hueschkeliana and diversifolia.

I live in a warm intermediate climate where carnosa, pubicalyx and australis grow outside under shade cloth with no issues, but will my new purchases be ok? Or will I have to bring them in for winter?

Here is a compiled list of base temperature tolerances of some hoyas. This information was taken from Liddle's Nursery Catalogues about 12 years ago. It is a list of "base temperature tolerances" and is the lowest recommended tolerance. It should not to be taken as typical growing conditions.

C = Cool. Lowest temp. 50 deg. F.

Yestetday afternoon I picked up these pots that were advertised on gumtree. Ten for twenty. Should be prefect for hanging hoya.

This is my oldest hoya. Hoya ddischorensis. I think ive had it about 6 months after rescuing it from the discount shelf. it sat there doing nothing for ages, but it's going through a growth spurt at the moment.

Where are you that you find Hoyas locally? Lucky duck! Your 4 newbies are good choices. Inconspicua, lacunosa and heuschkeliana stay nice and compact and aren't space-hogs. Did you find the lacunosa locally? That's the same clone as my old original, and I can't find that one anymore. It's my favorite...

I got these from Bunnings. I guess it's like Australias answer to home depot. They come from collectors corner In Victoria, luckily Bunnings carries thier line.

I actually went back and bought another lacunosa. I hope they live up to the hype. I'm a sucker for fragrant plants.

Bunnings are surprisingly good for Hoyas. They have them in those tiny pots and about 10 to 15 different species at a time. When they sell out there's often a gap of a few weeks and then they restock but not always with the same species. These look like recently struck cuttings and are pretty accurately labelled. Sometimes they have larger specimens in large hanging baskets that are not often labelled. They're pretty good for a large store that sells just about everything, including kitchen sinks.

I swung by on the way home tonight and they had a H coriacea. Shame it is a much more tropical grower.
