I have had terrible problems with this pest. Are there any varieties of winter squash with good resistance to it? Would it do any good for me to plant very heavily with the hope that some fruit would escape the pest? In the past I have had almost 100% loss. Also, I would appreciate knowing which varieties are most drought resistant - I am becoming increasingly disabled and this next summer my watering will probably become erratic. Thanks in advance. FWIW, I am in northern Alabama on the border between zones 7 and 8; summer rainfall is mostly thunderstorms.
