is this sapele wood? how do you like it? how does it compare to mahogany-advantages/disadvantages?

Yes, it is Sapele. Customer Loves it. It was fabricated by Blockhead Tops in Hubbard Lake, MI. Not sure how it compares, but they are great people, they could probably tell you the differences between Mahogany and Sapele.
