Warm Weather and Garlic Top Growth

This has been such a warm weather on the east half of the country. I decided to plant all my garlic late and this has worked out well. The newly planted garlic so far is only about 2" tall. But my volunteer garlic has put out like 4" top growth.

But for folks who planted garlic very early, late September, or folks in warmer zones, I'm not sure what is going to happen. Are they going to grow bigger garlic next season??
