Depends on whether there are separate rooms or open concept. Currently a greige color is more popular than beige and on my monitor Frazee Plantation beige is definitely beige.

White paint comes in different tones. There's yellow tone, green tone etc..
Look at your couch, what color is it? For example, If its gray, choose the paint color Fall Chill by PPG because it has gray undertones.
Do you have a fan deck? Sit on your couch and lay the fan deck on it and let your eyes search for the tone, then choose the lightest or second to lightest for your walls. I typically choose the second one for my clients.

How big is the house?

You could do all white in the house, but you need different finishes for the paint and lots of texture for fabrics. Then add different accent colors in each room.

We just repainted all 8 rooms and did all in Behr "Almond Wisp". Did the 2.5 baths in Behr "Creamy Mushroom", just a half-shade darker. I think different color rooms chops things up too much and I like the seamlessness of one color. We had Dove White walls prior and I am really a basic white-wall girl, this time we went with just a hint of color and we love it.

There is one open room in middle has kitchen, living rm and dining. Fireplace will be river rock. 2 bedrooms on one side, master and wood shop on the other. 1900 sq ft and lots of windows to frame view to river and mountains.

This is small rural area, only have a Sherman Williams paint store (so guess that takes care of Frazee Plantation Beige (it's actually a medium gold color), huh.

The pecan wood is a very strong color, so make sure whatever you choose looks good with that, in all types of lighting. Arctic white might feel too cold for MT. Maybe a warm neutral white. I would use all one color in the main spaces, but I think you can use a soft coordinating neutral in the bedroom if you want to. Maybe a soft green or blue to bring the outdoors in.

Hmmmm. Does the river rock have a particular coloration, like tans or greens, etc.? A light paint that picks up that color AND works with the floors (I'm assuming wood floors). You could do worse than Sherwin-Williams, believe me. If you find a color you love from a different brand, the formula on the back of the chip can be made at S-W. I'm in a rather remote area also, and getting pretty good at winging it.

Go with all one color...something you like and that works well with the pecan. Especially as you have no furniture.

Be careful of a real white-white...it will seem really cold when outside is snow covered.

River rock is light colored grey mixed size rocks, little bit of green and rose highlights, but faint like dry creek rocks. Vinyl wood floors that haven't been selected for color yet until the kitchen is in place.

I'm starting to think the right shade of green could be good throughout.

Wait until you move in, for at least 6 months. You need to see how the natural light moves around the rooms, how the direction of the light, north, south, east or west, causes the color to change, and how the position of the sun, daily and seasonally, chances the color. That medium gold color may turn bright orange, or muddy yellow, depending on the light. And you'll be back on Houzz, asking what to do. Go with the builders white, and then decide after you've lived there awhile.

Idea: Valspar has a color called Fioli Antique Lace. It is a pale gold/tan. I used it in my DR & love it. From your photos I think it would work with the wood colors you have. You can see it on their site, and probably get it mixed at S-W. It adds a warmth without being an "in your face" color. I think Arctic White in an area the size of your kitchen/DR/LR might be too cold and look unfinished.

Good advice, but if I wait, I'll have to do it myself. If I can figure this out, builder will take care of it . . . .

Try SW Light French Gray and any trim white/white. Should work well throughout the house; look great with cabs and hardware and countertops.

Get hubby a gray shirt.

If it's an open floor plan, one color would work best. I love color though, and all my rooms are different. No beige or greige or rental khaki in my house! Just go with what you love and don't worry about what's current.

I would keep the kitchen floor plain, rather than wood pattern, since the woodwork is very busy.

Hmm...in my first on-my-own house, I painted every room a different color, carefully chosen to be the same tone; and adjacent rooms didn't clash. The colors were jewel tones, and a little shocking to some. It was the most fun I've ever had with color, and the house was like walking through a jewelry box. In addition, I was astonished at how artwork responded differently to the wall colors: surprisingly, there wasn't as much clash as you would think. In fact, most times, the wall color really brought out interesting characteristics of the art work.

However now, 15 years later, I got a little weary of the energy, and just completed repainting in just two coordinating colors, more subdued. It is much more restful, and the art still looks great.

My only advice: do what you like, but be sure to select your carpet, upholstery, and bedspread first. So-o much easier to match the paint than the other way around!

What was the decision back in December?

Sorry Apple pie Order. The decision has yet to be made. June 10th is the construction deadline for deciding.

I took the offered advice of just paint what I like, so I'm going with a gold tone of some sort. I have 3 paint colors - Whole Wheat for all the bathrooms, but the Colonial Gold I chose came in a large sample sheet and it was way too dark. So I'm either picking a lighter one, or having it cut 1/4 white to lighten it. The front door, the soffitt in kitchen, and laundry room ceilings will be Red Obsession.

Sherwin Williams has a newer TYPE of paint called Cashmere low sheen. It's low gloss but can be touched up whereas the matte or low sheen normally cant be touched up without repainting a whole wall. So all wall colors will be Cashmere type.
