Chair needed??

My family and I need more seating in our family room. I'm thinking about adding a chair next to the couch. See first pic. The wall across from the couch is Windows. See pic. 3. The tv and mantle are on the other wall. What type of chair or extra seating would you suggest?

Before purchasing a chair, wondering if you have ever tried your couch in front of the window, as it will open up the space and also allow for more space to add another chair - no harm trying it..easy to move back if you don't like. See set up below (less the chaise section) and use your floor lamp on one end and a table/lamp on the other side of the couch. Use the other table inbetween the two chairs against the opposite wall and I think the chair with an ottoman would be handy. Add a brown throw over the back of the chair and a small rollled pillow and also add some complimentary pillows on the couch (patterned and solids(, so you tie the pieces/room. Adding a large coffee table will pull that whole seating area together.

It looks like you have plenty of room to put a comfy chair in front of those speakers. Go for smallish scale, but not armless (who really wants to sit in an armless chair?).

DeCocco Design- I'm not sure about putting my sectional in front of the Windows. What are your thoughts?

It's worth a try - as long as you've got at least 36" to walkway into the space, you're good to go. I just did exactly that on a project and it looked great. Drapery panels on those window would add a lot of warmth and polish to the room. Either on each window or just flanking the whole wall (treating it like one big window). If the sectional is really long and you have the space, pull the sectional out about 12" from that wall so drapes can hang nicely.

DeCocco Design- I'm thinking of going with a pattern on the chair I select. What would you suggest? Also what about for the panels? Thanks so much!!

I have dark wood blinds on the Windows now.

I like blues, reds , yellows and neutrals.

Thanks Maureen! After the Bengals game my husband and I are moving the couch in front of Windows. I like the idea of a neutral patterned chair. Not too light though b/c of my boys.

I like that blue chair, too. The color and pattern are perfect. Drapery panels in a coordinating fabric would be great. You've got a big, solid sectional in that room. Now add some pattern and color! Show us pictures when you're done!

Ok all! I went chair shopping today. I fell in love with these two options. Remember I have yellows, reds, blues, and Browns in my room. Which option do you think will look best on a chair (not picked out yet) in my family room?
I also like these two options but not as much as the two in the previous post above.

I like the pattern with the circles, but it depends slightly on the scale of the chair. I would not go with more heavy dark fabrics given the black sectional, gray rug and dark blinds. The circle fabric would allow you to pull gold and/or blue into window treatments....

DeCocco Design- Can I have your opinion? Would you like the second fabric ton a chair (and ottoman) like the one Lumar posted for my space?
Wait! I meant the first fabric option. The navy hexagon print.
Lumar's print is soft and light. Your choices are dark and heavy. The contrast in the hexagonal print is especially bold and busy. Are you bound to these choices? Or are more samples available?

I like both of the first two fabrics best. Bold patterns, great contrast - they work well with the scale of the sectional. You need a larger rug, too.
