I have a hard time not liking all of them! It might be easier to ask which ones I don't like, and those would have to be the very few that have up and died without reason... while those identical to the losers are thriving, or any plant that seems to be attracting scale, blah! Just because they were outside for the summer doesn't mean they should get buggy, too! I'd rather them attract hummingbirds! (though hummingbirds might be confused to see Mexican plants).

But yours is a good question. Last year I ordered more juncea, funckianas, and ionanthas, and I discovered neglecta, heteromorpha and crocata. This year, when it warms up enough to order more, I don't know what I'll get, but shopping is at least half the fun :)

The "eric" part of the name made me think of "Eric Knobloch" (mentioned frequently in early BSI Journals), but apparently that's a different plant.

Tillandsia capitata is one of the easiest for me to grow here in Indiana. It blooms every fall and I have two large pots of it. It is a seedling from a T. capitata lutea, which blooms yellow, and mine blooms peach to orange. I have never had it in any soil, moss, etc. I just have it stuck into a hanging basket and it does very well. I splash some Miracle grow on it once in a while, but other than that, just water and sunlight.

I like this one, a Tillandsia cyanea,

which I originally thought was something else. The flowers last for a long time and are very colorful.

I also like this one

but the flowers do not last very long. The plant stays red for about a month while it is blooming, and then it goes back to silvery green. Each flower lasts only a couple of days after it has opened. I think it is the same as Bob's.
