germination time again

Started some of my seeds yesterday, still waiting on a few others to get here. Have my lights on standby and just set up my greenhouse yesterday. Can't complain with 50/60 degree days in mid January so taking advantage of the nice weather with that.

All my super hots on the right and mild to hot on the left. Probably hard to read but i have red, white, and yellow ghosts, peach ghost scorpions, white "carolina reapers" for my supers and red habs, hungarian wax, jalapenos, jamacaian chocolates, thai hots, and peter peppers.

I have another batch of all the same peppers germinating in seed starter pots but they have seemed to develop a little mildew on some of them so I'm not relying on germination or great growth from them at this point. Guess we will see

Yah, I am about a 3-4 weeks away from starting my seeds and I find myself a lot less anxious than previous seasons. Not sure why. But I will have to start thinking about what varieties and quantities I will be wanting.

I have between 10 and 15 seeds in each bag with and addition 3-6 pots with 2 or 3 seeds in each. Going to start all of them and weed some off. I'm very much excited for this year

Me too- 3-4 weeks sounds about right. Not that cold outside for wintertime.

GH still full of plants, even some outside under the overhang and all still doing well.

I just set one of my greenhouses up. I will be setting up a second one here shortly buy havent ordered it yet. My plants are still long from being outside.

I think this will do just fine for now

There's a white Carolina Reaper now?

Good luck! I'm still starting seeds but I should have gotten them done 6 weeks ago, as now is 30 days to plant out...

White Reaper? It makes sense. We had simple red ghosts, now we have red, yellow, orange, white, chocolate, etc... Same with Habs and a lot of the other popular varieties. I would be a bit cautious though as the variations will likely be very erratic until they can be grown out several more generations.

The guy i got them from said they were bred out of Louisiana. I don't know the validity of it yet as i haven't grown them myself but i will definately let you know. Will keep everyone posted on that. In the mean time though i noticed this today!

So far that's my growth. The last picture on the left are ones that are from my zip lock germination. I'm picking out individual seeds as they root And planting them seperate. so far only have 6 seeds popped from my ziplock sets but i expect more tomorrow. Some were looking about ready now but decided to give them another day.

Looks great! I like the greenhouse and it's looking like your seeds are having no issues germinating.

I wish the house was a bit taller. Will be working something out with that plants are happy so far

Added this today under my lights. Also have a lot more germination from my ziplock sets. And a few more from my potted seeds.

The last picture with the straws are all germinated.. my wifes jalapenos are going nuts. I have i think 17 total plants right now. I have 3 "white reapers" a bunch of white ghosts, trinidad and regular scorpions, a hand ful of bonnets and some others that are ready. Very much excited!

Nice looking setup, did you raise the lights for the picture or are they that far away from the seedlings? Are the added lights LED? I keep my florescent lights about an inch or two from the tops of the seedlings, this keeps the plants compact and also from growing leggy and falling over.

Right now my lights are that high, i am going to lower it when get home and move the other lights. And yes the other lights are led i have 6 - 20 led light on them right now. I'm not sure what the lum. Put out is on them because i got them for free from work but i figured surely it couldn't hurt the plants...

I do have a question though. I bought some shake and feed and planned on doing a really light fertilizer on them. Will this hurt the plants right now? They don't even have their first set of true leaves, just the seedling leaves at this point....

That's cool that you got the lights for free, I am sure you can find make/model of those lights somewhere on the lights themselves and find that info online about lumens. Lowering lights will be good for the plants and the more light you provide the better. I've never used shake and feed on my plants this early, but I do use MG soil and it has slow release fertlizer already in the mix. Maybe someone else has more experience with adding shake and feed to seedlings. Me personally I would not use it this early on, maybe after 3 or more sets of true leaves. You could also do a test run on which ever variety you have the most of and add some to those as a top dressing or when you repot mix it into the mix, then see how it affects them.

Yea I'm going to look then up just to see. Can't be much I'm sure but it all helps.... my wife has a few extra jalapenos that I'm sure i could seperate for my own testing purposes.

I wouldn't risk the chance of fertilizer burn on your seedlings. I've burnt adult plants with shake and feed. If your soil has time release in it, leave them be until they have at least 3 or more sets of true leaves as mentioned by Hab. If you feel obliged to fertilize, do a very weak dose (1/4 strength) of miracle grow. I use the tomato/veggie type. Store brand at Wally is okay too.
