Probably enough to have just one...having the fireplace be the focal point in the living room and the TV in the family room is maybe better...but then the living room will sit empty most of the time. Any opportunity to open the floor plan and create a larger space? Share the wealth, so to speak? We are seeing more fireplaces in master bedrooms and kitchens too. If the family room is open to the kitchen, that fireplace is double duty. In the end, it's budget...if you spend the money on additional fireplaces, it may not be there for that perfect tile or counter top. Or sofa.
