Have been keeping aquaria almost my whole life and run the gamut of setups over the years . Have always used the waste water for plants both aquatic and terrestrial. Have never noted a big difference ,positive or negative except in a "seep wall setup" there the growth was incredible!!!

Both from the standpoint of the plants and fish nitrates would remain below 10 no matter the fish population. The plants on the wall grew so rapidly they constantly diverted the water. While it was beautiful in all respects was a LOT of maintenance !!

From the standpoint of just using the water for terrestrial plants still had to fertilize Certainly no negatives and the water is used again so no waste.

I hi have had good luck using aquarium water. I mainly keep livebearers. I believe that it increaseses microbe life in the soil.
