Rug placement?

I love this new rug and would love to put it here by the front door. However, I'm not sure it works. I feel like it should go in the middle of the wood, but kinda need a rug up against the door. I slid it down to see what it looks like, but it feels so off balance. The entry is open to the DR, you can see some of the chairs, and open into the great room. What do you think? Is it just too small? :(

I would remove the chair and then you can center the rug with the door. The chair blocks the entry.

How's this look? I do like having a chair near the door.... Do I leave the lamp in front of the artwork? Or ditch the lamp? (I also like having the lamp, instead of so much overhead lighting)....

Now the chair looks like its blocking the door. Move the chair into another part of the house. It's a really pretty chair so I can see why you want it there but it just seems to be throwing everything off. If you're going to use that lamp, the table needs to be a little longer.

I think a chair is needed in this space. Get a shorter lamp maybe.

Rug should be right up to the door. Chunkier things on the table and move the chair closer to the table.

I hadn't thought of silver - it would be pretty with the blue.

    Hi

I think keeping it up against the door is best.

I don't usually add a single chair in a foyer. I would consider moving it to
Another place in your home - it's pretty so I certainly understand why you want to showcase it.

    Best of luck.

Ok, now it looks better. Not blocking the door anymore.

I would do a long console table and ottomans underneath it. And just center the rug from the door opening and away from the door as you first come in..

I love the rug and chair and believe a chair is essential in foyer your size . I believe your table is too small for the picture and your lamp needs to be a bit shorter . The rug can be place up to door or couple inches back . All and all I'm sure you will have amazing foyer as focal point when people open the door

Table is too small so the proportions look off. Rug against door looks right.

Or where one would first place a foot when entering.

Put a narrow indoor outdoor mat snug up to the front door to catch debris and water on shoes and center the rug on the floor area. This way people will not be reluctant to come onto the rug and muddy it as they step directly into the house.

But if you have a long walkway and large porch out side that will naturally remove shoe debris and a mat for wiping I think the rug will look best centered on the floor area.

If you are unhappy with the look then certainly go up one more size.

My foyer is 6 x 8 and I have a 5 x 7 rug that fits nicely almost up to the door. About 2 inches all the way around showing wood.

What a cute rug! I think it looks good away from door but doesn't give a place to wipe feet that way. I found a couple of things on Wayfair that would add interest to your entry.

You could then add mirror over the bench or do a gallery wall with pictures.

I'm thinking...keep the chair. Looks great with the rug! I am thinking smaller, much shorter table.

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts, we love the rug, but it's a find from Marshalls, I don't think it comes in another size. I hate to think of mud on it!! haha
