I am assuming that you love it. If he hates it and you love it why not put it in your room, wherever that is, like your office or craft room or woman cave :). It would be a shame to paint over the fun colors. But if it must 'go' with the decor of the room try painting it off white/creamy color of the trim in the room and by hanging on either a beige or gray wall it will look more transitional, than folkish, the texture of the flowers will still show so it will still have some of its character.
