It is a well done copy of an Oncidium. You will be hard pressed to get an exact name because there are so many hybrids.

Of course the other problem is artistic licence. Those flowering stems are not true to life. So the reproduction might be from looking at different orchids.

Thanks! It was a well done fake. I didn't realize it wasn't real until I got right up next to it and touched it.

Can Oncidiums be purchased large? One of the things that struck me about this one was how big it was--probably 2.5-3 feet tall and across. Much bigger than any phal I've ever seen. I saw it in a hospital, and they used it as a centerpiece on a side console. I would love to do the same, and I thought a plant of that size (even the fake) was very striking.

Google Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' it is readily available around the world.

Select images. Easy to grow. Flowers last well and perfume is nice. I have no idea how much a large sized plant in bloom would cost in the USA.

Arthur is right, there are Oncidiums such as Sharry Baby which get quite large. There are others which you can research. Best place to buy these plants are at orchid shows or online.

You live in NY and they enjoy the cool down in Fall if you can put the plant outside during summer until early Fall. They are lovely, large and many are fragrant.

If you scroll down on this thread, you can see a really impressive Sharry Baby. They smell divine, but they do like a lot of light, and a good bit of water to stay happy. If the spot you have in mind is far from windows, you might want to just invest in another well-done artificial orchid.

If you are near NYC you can go to 28th st between 6th and 7th Ave. A few of the shops there will have similar Oncidiums in flower. They are expensive, expect $80 or more.
