If possible, I would center the sectional on the wall. Then put a console table behind that side with a floor lamp. Or you could put a table lamp on either side of console.

Only make it a living plant or tree.

Nancy Ingram I'm afraid a console table will eat up too much space. We are in a small one bedroom apartment in NYC and that is prime "hang out and stand around" space where people gather. Plus, the couch is extremely large (119" x 95") so finding a console table that big may prove difficult. That's the only reason I wanted to try and fill the dead 4 foot space. Could you paint the dark wall so the light is reflected rather than absorbed? Or, lean a large mirror against that extra 4' wall? Maybe put a small chair in that dead corner with another floor lamp. Add a lamp to your buffet in the dining area. That's a good sized area for a NYC apt. I can see why it is a gathering place!

Thanks sandyandconnigardner for your help! Yes we got lucky with our new digs but now just need help in making it feel like home :) we painted the blue wall just recently... It is a bright blue, not a dark color or a navy we just seem to have trouble with light placement in order add brightness and show the true color.

I can definitely put a large standing mirror in the 4' space however we have a large mirror (similar to the PB eagen mirror) that will be hanged above the bar-- another project for another day. So I don't want mirror overload. A chair would be great in the corner space though!

Agree a sofa table with lamp would give light and help fill that space. What is the paint color you have? Love it and looking for similar

Magys111 we can't do a sofa table since there's only 3' of walking space to enter to living room. And it's Behr blue moon bay

Adding the sofa/console table along the dining room side would work. IKEA has some great tables that you can double or triple so it fits your space. Use open tables so you can have extra seating underneath.

Sorry maggys111 I'm new to this and was unaware! I think that is a great idea! For a 95" sofa how long of a console table would I need? Essentially 2, 4' ones connected? I appreciate your help
