I am living in Mexico City and got three very unusual Mexican orchids as gifts. One had a black 2 inch single flower, one a blue 2 inch single flower and one a yellow 2 inch single flower. I treated all three the same and killed 2 of the three. I placed them all in indirect light near a window on a water plate to keep up moisture. I infrequently sprayed the leaves and lightly watered the air roots and growing medium. Now the one remaining is in my bathroom in indirect light being sprayed every 8 days or so with a mystery orchid food a Mexican plant vender sold me (without telling me its ingredients).
I have tried to look up on the internet to find a Black Mexican orchid that looks like the one I was given and haven´t been able to find anything at all that resembles any of the three orchids I was given. Now I´m afraid it is a rare wild orchid, pulled from the Mexican mountains and I´m terrified I will kill the remaining one. (I don´t know whether the survivor is the black, blue or yellow one.
Its leaves are quite green, but hasn´t bloomed again since I got it three years ago. Often when it gets new leaves, they grow wrinkled until they get bigger, so I´m afraid I am doing something wrong that will harm the plant in the longterm. Any ideas to help preserve this possibly wild specimen?
