can you give me some ideas on what is often swapped and how prepared (planted in peat pots, divisions wrapped in moist paper toweling and plastic wrap... I've not participated in one but would like to bring some thing to trade and have it properly prepared to trade!

Hey Tanya, you might want to look over the FAQ page. Here's the section that addresses your question. PLEASE let me know if anything needs clarification or you need more info.

What should I bring?

Potted plants, freshly dug plants
(properly conditioned to survive until they can be planted),
cuttings, well-developed seedlings, seeds, small trees, shrubs,
vines, perennials, annuals, gardening tools, gardening supplies,
gardening crafts, and gardening related art are all welcome. These are the kinds of things we typically swap. Please
pre-label your plants so that the recipient will know what they
have.

Many people (from Facebook, emails, etc) have said they plan on being at the swap, but there's been limited activity so far on the group's online swap forum. If you plan on coming to the swap and want to arrange pretrades (or maybe just want to let people know what you will have or will be looking for), check out the swap forum on our website, linked above.

Just sitting here, I can quickly think -- off the top of my head -- of five plants in my yard that are coming up, many with buds already on them, that I got at the East Tennessee Plant Swap. These are the beautiful climbing rose 'New Dawn', a vigorous Black Marseilles fig, sweet peach-colored bearded iris, a healthy Navajo blackberry, and the dainty native Blackberry Lily, And there are so many others in my yard -- wonderful plants from the ETPS. If you've never joined us, please come -- it is a nice group of people who enjoy fellowship and the common love of plants.

Today's swap was officially the largest swap we've ever had. We had at
least 70 attendees and quite possibly more than that. We counted four
times and each time got between 70 to 75. People kept moving around,
so some may have not got counted during some of the counts.

quilts that were raffled off, Kim for the welcome table and help with
organization, and everyone who brought food for the potluck and who
stayed to help us eat!

Ahh this is so sad I just now came across this. I had way too much luck with my seeds this year and could have given so much away :( . Is there any plan to do another one any time soon or this a once yearly kind of thing? Would love to find someone who does worm gardening and trade for some worms to start a worm bin.

Hey Thirstypotato, we do this twice a year. The spring East Tennessee Plant Swap is usually held around the middle of May, and the fall swap is usually held in early October. There's a closely associated Facebook site called Plant Swap Knoxville where you might be able to arrange some swaps person to person. Quite a few of the people that come to the swap are also members of that Facebook group.
