Tiny bugs in soil of fiddle leaf fig

I was recently gifted a large fiddle leaf fig plant. I inspected the soil (the plant is extremely root-bound), and discovered tiny, greyish, iridescent insects in the top layer. Some of the leaves are turning yellow. A few others have black marks, which I initially thought were due to transporting it in cold weather. Any advice is much appreciated!
