I would love to keep this for the apt . Can I hang this behind the sectional?

Is your rug hand knotted or tufted? What size is the rug?

If you love a piece of art, keep it. You will find a place for it. (And I think it would look perfect above the sofa or even above the dining table.)

Regarding the rug, if you don't like how it looks with the sofa, can you use it in the bedroom?

Move the sofa to the right about 3 feet (enough to cover the electrical outlet). That way it will be more centered on the big blank wall. It'll also be moved away from the windows--it doesn't need to be jammed in a corner.

Consider using the rug beneath your dining set to define your dining area. Find a small rug for beneath a coffee table or ottoman for in front of the sectional.

Colors of art and rug work well with room and sectional's colors. A sectional can be a poor choice, especially for a small space, because it limits your furniture placement and because no one really likes sitting for an extended time in a seat without an armrest.

    Consider trying your sectional either

... against the long wall to the left of your table and chairs instead of having the table in the far corner away from what -- because of what appears to be the edge of the bar -- appears to be the kitchen, or,

... alternately, use the sectional as a room divider between living/dining area or living/kitchen area.

The reason I ask if it is hand knotted or tufted and its size is to determine whether or not it is worth keeping. I cannot tell by the top but I would be able to tell by what the back looks like.

This is the back of the rug. I paid a lot of money for it so I have to use it somewhere. I will take a picture of it next to the sectional with the picture I. The back .

So it looks to be hand knotted. What I would do is place this rug under the table because the colors of this rug and the couch look very bleak and dull. Or could you place this rug in a bedroom? If you keep the rug under the table, the style you choose for under your sectional will have to coordinate. If you go for another Persian style, you can do whatever you want color wise. If you go for a modern style, you'll need to pull at least one color from you Ethan Allen rug so that the rugs do no clash.

    Here is some inspiration:

The rug and painting look like they would go very well together with what you already have.

Uh oh- didn't see the grey. I'd use the rug in the dining area, not in front of the couch.

Can you take a picture of sofa on rug so we can see what you see? The grey might just have a touch of taupe in it and it will work. But if you hate it or uncomfortable with it please return the couch for a different color. Bring cushion or fabric sample home to see how it looks with the rug and art.

What size is the rug now? When you go to buy a new one, you will need something atleast 3 feet bigger length and width wise. The rug you have now is entirely too small for your space. Ideally the entire couch should be sitting on the rug with at least 2 foot extending past the couch on the side and back ends.
