A protective finish was not required, as the homeowners old oven, circa 1940, is a non-working oven.

Thank you for your answer. I have a vintage stove too, but I use it every day. I was just wondering if I need to add a protective coating, i.e., polyurethane to the bead board, after it's painted.

Beautiful kitchen!!! Reminds me of my favorite kitchen; my Grandma's! :)

Love this kitchen except for the stainless steel refrigerator/freezer. Looks out of place next to the vintage stove. Maybe built in with white cabinet fronts would look good.
