I know this post is a few years old, but I am contemplating this table as well. Different color combo and not the planked top. Just wondering, did you end up buying the table and how has it held up? Anyone else with Ethan Allen case goods experience? I always notice that their floor models look trashed especially the dark wood dining tables. I was told yesterday to use placemats.:) Any input is appreciated.

I posted on this thread before. We're still using the table and it still looks great. It was our only table, used in the kitchen. With 2 toddlers it saw hard use every day. We have moved it 3 times. It's in our dining room and still looks nearly new. I don't keep a tablecloth on it. We use the leaf infrequently, but the finish on the table still matches the leaf so that tells me that the tabletop is wearing well. I have not found that it scratches easily. The chairs have some chipping of the finish. Both the table and the chairs have the toast finish.

Several people chimed in on my original comment on cleaning of the table. I had used dish soap and water with a sponge. The water did not sit on the table top and it was cleaned as anyone would clean their table top, especially if you have kids, and then wiped dry. I had peeling and cracking of the finish after just a few months. Ethan Allen sent out a repair tech and they said that the damage was from misuse. It is a beautiful table, but just know that Ethan Allen has one of the worst customer service departments I have ever seen. I will personally never shop there again as a result, and with other options such as pottery barn, Williams Sonoma home, and crate and barrel that all have excellent customer service, why would you risk getting a lemon with Ethan Allen, and then no service after the sale? I wish someone had told me about their track record before I had made the purchase.

I purchased this table two year ago and have to honestly say this is one of the worst pieces of furniture I have ever had. Not only does the table scratch easily but after a few months the edges began to peel off. You can literally peel off the entire top of the table with a finger nail. An Ethan Allen independent inspector agreed with me and submitted a report on my behalf however, when we finally got a call back form the extremely rude service rep he stated that the table was experiencing normal, wear and tear. I also asked to see a copy of the inspector report since it conflicted with what I was told from the inspector himself and was told " It's against company policy" to supply the reports to customers.

No one should ever buy from a company with this type of product and company service.

Ethan Allen is a joke....

Quick update: I actually purchased the Avery table about 6 months ago. (Very similar to this table.) It showed up damaged so I had to have an EA repair man come out within a week of delivery. I asked the repairman how to keep the table looking good as I noticed that the floor models were scratched and in bad shape. He said, "The only way to keep this table looking good is to cover it with glass!" LOL. I had just searched for years for a table that wasn't glass. I now have glass covering this wooden table! My advice...buyer beware.

Recently purchased the Avery table. Within the first week of just my husband and myself using the table, fine scratches from my placemats appeared. Don't purchase from Ethan Allen. They promote fine furniture, but it is really just ****.
