I have about 60 large coconuts, probably another 20 to 30 smaller ones coming up. But I don't do anything for them, other than water during the dry season. They do benefit from extra nitrogen and potassium. Trace elements are important but if you're near the beach wind bourne sea spray carries, in addition to salt (sodium chloride), many other mineral salts which benefit coconuts. So occasional watering with sea water can also help, but not for seedlings or very small plants. An important considersation is what you want the trees for, commercial production or just as ornamentals. Mine are only ornamental so it's better for me if they have less fruit.

Thanks, tropic. Of course ornamental is important; but I also would like them to produce cocos. Note, they are hybrid dwarf cocos, that means if you don't feed them you will not get cocos; and that's a fact. We are quite near the beach, we front on the Pacific Ocean. The beachfront is not such a friendly environment; but once the cocos get established they will survive with virtually no care; survival is not my concern; I am an agriculturalist and I would like them to prosper.
