I don't think you have to worry about over watering with mounted orchids. I think as an indoor grower the question is how little can you water them without them being too dry.

Many plants are OK with being drier in the winter, you should be OK watering twice a week in winter and a bit more in the summer.

I tend to stay away from mounted plants because I don't have time to water more than once a week in winter. In summer I grow outside so between rain and the garden hose it's easy to water a few times a week.

I am am currently watering 3 times per week and spraying them once in the days between.

During the growing months I will dunk them every day.

I have plants that require dry rests- I only water these mounts once a week, but was unsure about my aerangis.

I grow inside and have several mounted orchids. Your watering routine sounds pretty similar to mine, and my mounts do pretty well. I have at least 4 aerangis mounted and 3 have successfully bloomed for me. If you don't have one already you may want to get a humidifier for the winter. At least here, maintaining humidity between 40-50% in the winter is difficult without one.

I have them on the kitchen window wall, humidity is always higher than 50% but will buy a humidifier to increase it.

Mounts are more work, especially in the house. But they are absolutely doable. Good luck and post of the gallery forum when those blooms start coming in!
