growing mint from seed

I am starting my calibrochoas and ivy germaniums much earlier this year (next weekend as a matter of fact) and was considering starting something I've never tried from seed before.......Mint......Mojito Mint to be specific (and if I can get my hands on some, peppermint and spearmint).

Couple of questions....

1) Is growing mint from seed indoors easy?

2) Am I starting it too soon?

3) Does it get transplanted into the garden earlier than I would my tomatoes/peppers/eggplant?

4) How best to keep the mint roots from taking over my cinderblock-bordered raised beds?
