I've been meaning to ask at the local brewpub we often visit if they already are giving their spent grain & stuff to a composter with a bigger set-up than my 2 basement bins, but could let me have just a bit of the stuff on a regular basis.

My worms absolutely love my excess kefir grains and sourdough starter, both of which contain many yeasts. So I'm guessing they'll really enjoy it. Sourdough starter can get pretty hot, though, so limiting the surface area is good. Kefir grains did not get hot for some reason. Let us know how your worms like the baking yeast!

It was the granular type, so I sprinkled it on top of the bedding, then kind of fluffed it in. Not sure if I will be able to tell how they respond, but I'll check back soon and in a couple of days, too.

Yeast is mostly protein, so the light dusting is appropriate. How did it go?

I would also like to hear how it went with the sprinkle of yeast?

The sfgate link provided above is for "heating up" an outdoor compost pile not a worm bin. Tho I guess it could be used to drive the worms out of the bin, if that is what you want to do.
