I heard that Dwarf Palmettos "Sabal minors" are native to the extreme southeastern Virginia (The Virginia Beach area). Here is a source a used to look up this information http://www.pubs.ext.vt.edu/HORT/HORT-60/HORT-60-PDF.pdf if you in the introduction it says, "Part of the Dwarf Palmetto’s native range includes the extreme southeastern portion of Virginia." Also a few people told me that they saw some growing in fields wild. I know they are hardy to zone 6b and the Virginia Beach area is zone 8a. Tell me what you think.
