I am loving the first mirror way too much to let it go but if I were to do the suggested one in. This photo...would anyone have a link to get dimensions and prices?

Ward designs....are you seeing the first mirror over the desk at all? I am just loving the style. Would it look good?

Coleen, Unfortunately the scale and heaviness of that mirror over the desk doesn't work - it would look too "top heavy". The thinner, light frame of the other mirror is a better balance.

Is there another spot in the room where you could hang that mirror you're in love with?

Or, perhaps a pair of those mirrors over the dresser would work... the widths are 36"W for mirror and 74"W dresser leaving 1" between the mirrors and 1/2" each side. hmm, a bit tight

Or, instead of hanging the mirror centered with the dresser, you could place it more to one side, say the left side, leaving you with space on the right for a lamp and other decorative pieces. (Eg: a small stack of books, a piece of crystal, candles, a group of three framed pictures, etc.). This would look awesome!

It is a gorgeous mirror and I'd have trouble letting go too. Hopefully, these ideas help.

Thank you ward design for such great advice. I'm torn about putting it off to the side only because I'm thinking it might drive me crazy appearing off centered. Bi will look to see if I can find some photos of this arrangement. Sometimes a visual helps me decide.

The mirror here is 42 x 42. It is more of a silver finish than the previously loved quatrefoil mirror and 6 inches wider. Would this make a statement over the dresser or over the desk?

My thoughts on the Gordon mirror over the desk (2nd mirror) is that it doesn't have a big impact but I can be wrong not knowing any of great touches of decorating.

My purchase needs to be done through Amazon where I have all my money for the mirror currently from gifts which is limiting me a bit. I don't beleuve the Gordon mirror is available through Amazon. Still searching.

Ok houzzers...I found this mirror that would fit the dimensions of the dresser. Thoughts on this one or should I just keep focusing on a mirror over the desk and prints over dresser.???

I think the Patterson mirror would look perfect over the dresser and the color goes very well with your soft greys and blues. I especially like the fact that it's not brown so it won't look too "matchy-matchy" over the dresser. It also looks a lot like your favorite and the size is good. I think you have a winner here!

I've attached a couple of pics of mirrors which are offset to the dresser - they're not great examples but, it gives you an idea of how it would look. (The second pic is actually a vanity but same set up).

I'm with ward, the Patterson. The first one is lovely, maybe you can find another home for it.

Yippee!!! Winner :). I want to just double check those dimensions. When I see it on the Amazon site it shows 56 x 53 but when I see it in the houzz site the dimensions are 48 x 48.

Anyone know if that is correct?

I checked Bassett Mirror also and it says 48x48. This will still work. If you center it to the dresser you'll have 13in. on each side. Good enough!

Thank you everyone :). Tiday, I'm considering the options of the first mirror over the desk OR the Patterson over the dresser. I must make the decision today as I need drapes and blinds and need to move onto my next challenge:)

Ironically, the mirror has been removed from the Amazon site due to the measurement issues I mentioned earlier :(.

IMHO, that Patterson mirror is really gaudy. Looks like a department store display fixture.

It's also too large for the space. Get a piece of cardboard that size and tape it to the wall; I think you'll be surprised.

And a 90-pound mirror? Is there a stud in the wall (or 2 centered) at the right place to hang that from?

Thank you for your honesty! I am starting to see this as a message to steer my thoughts away from the dresser mirror and to do prints over the dresser and purchase the round one for over my desk. (See below). I thought myself it appeared quite large and has some reservations in purchasing and was thinking even the smaller 36x36 one was an ok size.

Well, I'm not suggesting not to have a mirror there. Here's the thing...the bed faces away from the window. If it were me, I'd like to see outside while lying there. If the bed can't be turned 180 degrees, then the mirror would at least give a view to the outdoors.

As to the desk...is it really a desk that you will use? For what? Do you want to stare at your mug as you sit there? ;-) I work at my desk, and have a laptop on it and a 32" monitor mounted on the wall above. If it's for makeup, then I guess you do want a mirror.

I have to say, though, that our tastes are very different. Both those mirrors make me think that Barbara Cartland lives there.

My thoughts were to have a mirror over the desk being that is where I get ready in morning and put on my makeup / dry my hair. I don't necessarily need the mirror but thought the ornate mirror would look beautiful. Don't need the mirror over the dresser either ... Again just looking to add to the walls to complete the room. I was starting to think prints over the dresser would look great. Honestly, if I found the right dimensions over the desk or the dresser, i would then do prints over the other.

Like I said in an earlier post, I may be switching my efforts to drapes at this point :(.

The heavy mirror won't work over the desk - you're best choice is the thinner one - it would look fabulous there. There are soooo many sites that offer prints, canvases, b/w photography, etc. that your problem will be which ones to pick.

Try Allmodern.com for drapes and window coverings and let us know which ones grab your eye. This way we can narrow it down easier.

I do see how heavy the mirror would look. Yesterday i ran to home goods and saw this mirror and just picked it up for a visual on size. This mirror is 30x30. It could be a problem going bigger being I have to squeeze in drapes as well as sconces.

Even this mirror seems too heavy - see how it draws the eye straight to it and your bed s/b the focal point, not the mirror.

Regarding window finishes: Are you keeping a blind and just hanging panels on either side? Are you looking for something dramatic, like a soft blue water silk, or something clean and crisp? Would light sheers in a soft blue/grey work with your walls or a crisp clean white sheer or nubby linen, to give you that boutique chique look? There are so many ways to go -- what look are you wanting to achieve?

Yes I see it. Absolutely not liking the bigger mirror at all. I am thinking I will just focus on the dresser and the windows for now. I will work on the desk later. It's making me crazy trying to tie up loose ends everywhere.

As far as the drapes, you hit all my likes. I love a clean crisp look but also would love the silky pale light blue drape. Also love the linen look as well. Oh my! So many options.

I am looking for blinds too. I need to watch my budget being I need drapes blinds sconces and mirrors/prints:).

So I lied... I'm back to looking at a desk mirror vs dresser mirror/prints. I want opinions on the size of this mirror for over the desk. Most advice has been leaning toward this mirror but want to be sure it's not too big? The one I have temporarily here is 30x30 and seems so heavy. Being this mirror below is lighter and seems thinner in style would it work here even tho it's size is 33x33 or should I move onto something smaller?

Have you tried a card board cutout of that size, like others have suggested?

No i haven't. I honestly haven't had a second to do so. Just seeing the size of the temporary one I am thinking it isn't much bigger than that and has a thin frame which might be more subtle. I will see what I can do over the weekend when I'm able to play around with it.

• What is the desk's width? I still like the silver framed mirror for over the desk, however, it may look too big depending on the desk size. Before you choose the mirror, perhaps the blinds and drape panels should be chosen first. They may dictate what style and shape of mirror would work best there.
• Amazon.com has an extensive selection of drapery panels at very good prices. You could even go with a white on white patterned sheer and a simple white black-out blind.

A mirror across from your window and bed will a) reflect light in your face b) bounce out energy and....

The print or sculptural wall concept is nicer and more romantic. The mirror is nice over the desk.

I would rather select drapes in person having the color to match up against the wall color. I may even just run into Jcpenny by me this morning to see some color options. I do like the idea of white sheer drapes for the room. Nothing too heavy. For the blinds, would white cellular blinds be ok here with the drapes?

Never select anything online that has colour which will have large "play"within a space. Who said the monitor delivers accurate colour is inaccurate. Patterned sheers are beautiful- plain are meh.

Sheers: If using sheers which will be closed all the time, why not get the blackout blinds that are just plain roller blinds? They disappear into a cassette at the top of the window. When you want to sleep pull them down and voila blackout.

Would you suggest using a Silver pole for the drapes?

Yes, as it is technically " white". However, get some nice finials- glass or mirrored...Costco used to have great ones for a fabulous price! Do not forget you need a middle bracket - or you might be getting whacked on the head when sleeping.

Do you think the clips would work well or grommet?

Clips do not work with grommets- You just put the rods through- very sporty looking....for a bedroom? WAIT- sheers on grommets? Huh? weird. IKEA even has nice sheers with pattern that you just loop through the rod- and no hardware is required. Always purchase 2 more panels that you think- as droopy towels look crappy in windows.

I was asking if you think I could use the clips with the sheer drapes OR use the grommet style. I'm. It a fan honestly of grommet but it seems to be what everyone is using.

White cellular blinds will work fine. If you get the top-down, bottom-upblinds you can enjoy privacy as well as sunlight. I haven't seen too many sheers with grommets, the fabric is too light for the grommet. Most sheers are either pocket rods or hanging hooks. Rather than get drapes which will cover the entire window, I would go for side panels that look like they could be pulled across the window but stay stationery on each side. The benefits are:

• You'll require less fabric and therefore less expense.
• You really don't need them to go all across the window - your blinds will give you the privacy.
• You would have to move your bed away from the wall in order to accommodate the fullness of a full window drape.

Either a brushed silver rod or a white rod would work in this situation, along with some decorative finials.

I've attached some pics of rods and finials as well I've included a pic of a bed with a full set of drapes behind it and a pic of a bed with side drape panels. If you compare both, you'll see the full panel looks heavy and takes away from the bedding; while the side panels compliment the bedding and make the bed the "star".

Ward designs...thank you so much!!! I am aware of the difference between the grommet and the slide through but was just asking what would look best... Either or. I am not a fan of the grommet being they look so casual and not so thought out. I guess I need to slow down and think before I type:). I was at bed bath and beyond yesterday and was looking at exactly what your suggesting... I want side panels and blinds in the window. I will not ever close drapes. It looks like a movie theater showing to me:(. My house is more cottagey than formal so will definately look for panels. I am heading back today to pick out my pieces with a paint swatch. They decorator there was suggesting the paint chip because I was looking at white panels and she felt it wouldn't look right with the comforter and paint. I will look to finalize it all today:).

I don't know what the dresser faces, but don't hang a mirror above it if it's directly facing the bed. Poor feng shui.

The opposite wall of the dresser is the window. I am most likely doing prints over the dresser now. Thank you

As I said before, I think a mirror over the dresser would be great, so you could lie in bed and see outside and the sky.

If your blinds aren't going to be up to the ceiling your drapes shouldn't be either. Especially if you only have panels.

I picked up some sheers for my bedroom window treatments and now wondering if the coordinating drapes would look nicer in the bedroom. 2nd question is I have these rods purchased and never used for my living room. Could they work in the bedroom? Should I spray them maybe a white and hang the coordinating drapes? I need to decide first if I am doing sheers (then would need a skinny rod) or drapes (and go with a heavier rod). What do you think?

It's probably easier to buy a new white rod when you select your drape panels, then you're sure to get the right type of rod for the drape. I wouldn't hang the coordinating drapes - it will look too "matchy-matchy".

Select a simple slubby sheer that is a color in your duvet that you can match. Below I've posted a soft white sheer, a white and grey sheer and a pale blue sheer. Try looking for something light and airy like these to give your bedroom light and spaciousness.

Love the slate gray color. I picked up a few and will see what works best. First blinds and then I'll sample the sheers:)
