Titan update and questions.

A week ago I saw that the soil for my titan arum wasn't that well draining, so I added some perlite to it. In doing so, I noticed a few new roots as well as a leaf bud forming at the base. The bud kept growing despite the roots being disturbed a little bit, but it seems to have stopped over the last couple days. Also the stem has these lesions on it that are slightly raised, and I'm wondering what they are. I know there's been a few since I got it, but I'm still not sure if they've been getting worse or not. How long does a new petiole normally take, and will the dark spots cause a problem when the plant decides to absorb the current leaf?
