Plug it into a power strip - use that as an On/Off switch. He may have taken less if he knew about that switch.

That's what I'm doing. Easy fix. He disclosed the issue. One reason why I got it for $90 instead of $300 like another seller wanted for the same shredder model.

Nice find on that machine, I have the fellowes W11C and it goes thru cardboard without hardly slowing at all. Be advised the directions says not to do cardboard. The fellowes W10C which I had previously also did cardboard well. I have since sold it but not because there was anything wrong with it, at the time I had quit needing to do cardboard. It is cheaper than the 11c I now have. But even the 10c went thru a 4' x 2' cardboard box without a hitch. Skip the cheaper aurora machines you are asking for trouble if you try cardboard with those.
