Don't go with wood look tile!! Go with a tile like terra cotta or stone that doesn't look like you tried to match the wood but failed.

Cari makes a good point regarding the color. I would choose the opposite direction also.

Try it on a diagonal in a chevron or other pattern. You may need a little more tile for this, but probably not much more.

Square marble tiles from Home Depot would be a much better look. $4.99/sq ft

Fake should never be used right next to real. It makes both look bad. Do something else with the rile. A faux stone look would be great.

Since it has to be different (which is totally ok and will look good) make it different. Using the same tile for the foyer and your fireplace is a good decision. The light color looks very nice and doesn't look like you're trying to match the other floor, which you are not.

Play around with the layout before any cuts are made.

I would regroup and go with a regular tile rather than a wood look tile.
