Well, I don’t use that kind of light so I can’t really be a lot of help. However, I do know that metal halide lights use a ballast. The ballast is required to start the lamp and regulate the lamp’s operation current. The plug you mentioned is probably made to plug into the ballast, not your home electrical outlets. The ballast is what would plug into your home outlets.

If you are living in North America, 8.33A = 1000W / 120V. Household receptacles are grouped together with several on 15A circuits (qty as per your local electrical code).

So as long as you don't reach over 12A total continuous load on that circuit, you should be okay.

That is, it is not advisable to run 2x1000W metal halides (if you have purchased two) on the same 15A circuit in your home. 2x600W metal halides should be okay though.

Don't forget to add up the amps of any extra ventilation fans too. The amps depends how large/powerful the fan motors are.
