Backsplash to sink?

I am not quite sure if I am seeing that there is no backsplash behind sink. Is it just counter at right angle to painted wall? My eyes and computer are not of the latest technology so I may be not seeing that well. If that is so, is there not a worry about water often splashing on the wall and that seam? Beautiful kitchen!
