Dying vines......why, oh why

This is a Hoya Nuamannii imp 0940, and even though I've always had the vine in an upright position it's still dying. This happens more than I'd like to admit with my Hoyas. Probably why I don't get many blooms. what am I doing wrong and should I cut this vine? Thanks

Mine do this once in awhile, drives me nuts but at least for me it seems to be mostly an under watering issue. I hate when it happens, but I always trim back the wrinkly dead bits. My best advice is to keep an eye on it and try to remember the watering conditions, if it's been getting a lot cut back, not enough step it up a bit. My hoyas are happiest when I water them until it drains out the bottom and I let them drain a bit before putting them back on their shelves. Also, misting a few times a week may help to if you aren't to keep the humidity up. It is hard to say if the clip is too tight from just a picture, as long as you check to make sure it isn't too tight (and once in awhile as the stem thickens up) I wouldn't worry. Looks like you use the same clips I use, haven't had any issues with them. Ooooh, and I love those purple baby leaves on the RHP, I have three RHP's right now (one for me, and two I am gifting this spring to friends), and those baby leaves make me so happy!

Could be over watering or under watering or not enough light. I have a Hoya that size in soil/ clay pot and I water it every ten days during winter. I have it under a grow bulb and spray it with water every now and again.
Don't give up on it just try something new until you make it happy! You can do it!

Is it getting too much water/pot not draining well enough?

I think I went too long between waterings. So I guess I let it dry out completely then over compensated.

ive recently added some grow lights. What's puzzling to me is one plant (same size, rec'd at the same time, same watering schedule) is thriving. I got a beautiful new purple leaf on my RHP

Sometimes die back just happens like that on vining type Hoyas.

But let's look closely at the 2nd pic:

Unless I'm seeing things, or misunderstanding what I am seeing, it looks like the clip has pinched off the stem & that's what killed it. Looks maybe like you tried to clip 2 stems w/ one clip & the teeth of the clip closed off the now-dying one.

Sometimes it's tricky to clip stems to support w/out clipping them too tightly, or inadvertently pinching off their circulation in the process.

Maybe that is the cause but I always test to make sure the stems can move easily between the clips (I learned from another time). I used a hair clip that is much bigger than a dragonfly clip. Not sure what happened. Should I cut the vine or just leave it as is. Thank you.
