How much room do you have from the dishwasher to the island.

The picture is a little deceiving - it was 30" clearance on each side of the island. The island was 20"x38". At one point we were planning to put the island on casters/wheels but we ended up putting a receptacle and microwave on the shelf in the island, thus preventing it from moving. The owners say it flows well and they have no issues with the clearance.

I guess owners would have to load dishwasher from the side?

Doesn't everyone load the dishwasher from the side? You stand at the sink and turn.
