Growing under Lights

Best lights for growing salad greens/herbs?

I want to start some countertop hydroponic containers growing lettuce, kale, etc. Will fluorescent T5s do the job, or will LEDs? My kitchen window's exposure is west, so no help. Can anyone give me a simple way to find strip lights that would mount under kitchen cabinets and do a good job?

Either, if you mean LED bulbs for household lighting, e.g., 800 lumen, 8.5 watt "60 watt equivalent" LED bulbs sold for $1.99 each.

No, today's LED strip lights are inadequate. See

T5 4 lamp fixture ran for 10-12 hours a day for 2 months will definitely show results for you. I grow seasonal herbs like cilantro basil dill etc under my T5 lamps year round here in NY
