Yes what Mentha said and if it was already growing at that depth (as it appears from the staining) I would plant it at the same depth.

Thanks Mentha. I'm "schooled" in the concept of "don't bury the crown too deep...so I was surprised. It IS heavy, but I just applied a couple rocks and it's fine. When I get some light I'll snap a portrait, I'm just fascinated by that overlay of orange all the way to the tips. I took a loop to it and found the leaf surface is bumpy.

Nice looking pant. The color should come back, keep that part out of direct sun until it does. Another suggestion, put it in a heavier pot. It's likely to fall over in plastic.

I think it's abnormal (sorry, don't wish to scare you) & doesn't belong. While I don't mean to rock your boat, if that were my plant I'd be showing pix to the vendor & maybe asking for a refund.

If you read the op, the orange was below the soil and it was moved up. This is normal. Once that part of the leaf gets chlorophyll it will start greening up. If it had rot then I'd ask for a refund, but it's a very healthy plant otherwise. I once made the mistake of raising my patens for a show it was still very pale when it got there. Needless to say a plant that could have gotten a first in its class, didn't.

I appreciate all the advice. It just looks like it's blanched i.e. was blocked from developing chlorophyll. I got it bare root, I assume it was buried deeper. It looks very healthy, the roots are orange, and the orange color is throughout the whole leaf (all 4 of them), hence the olive color instead of a purer green.

Mentha, I put it in the pot I had available as a temporary measure. Just as soon as I find one I like for it, after it settles in, I will transplant it into a permanent heavier pot. I had to see what I was getting first - thank you and you are absolutely right, it's heavy and will only get heavier in time.

We had temps in the 80's & 90's up until today - it's raining. All the Sans are now inside again, the new ones in a Northern-facing window next to an Eastern-facing window, plenty of indirect light and warmth.

In the foreground left is NOID, just behind that is a juvenile 'Mikado.' Small spikey has 2 pups on leashes, like the ballyi but bigger, less curvature to the leaves.

It is hard to tell with the small pics but it looks kind of like Sansevieria francisii. Does it stack?

I'll take a better pic of it. Stack? Not yet, it's a fan with a couple offsets, not too big. I love these plants!

Mentha the middle one was labeled Mikado, it's a crapshoot what it's going to grow up to be, maybe another Fernwood (vase shaped) or Mikado (straight up like bacularis). I like gambling with plants sometimes.
