Hi Rob, I wouldn't prune but u could pinch out the top growth. That will encourage branching.

Ahhh Yes, that's what I meant. When transplanting a small specimen like this; do you need to let it set and dry for a few days, or just pot it up?

Once you crop the top off the plant you need to let the cut heal over for 5..7 days before letting water get on it. You can water the roots but not the cut area. Usually when you crop a branch during the growing season you will get 2 or 3 new branches (not always). I would crop the top about 1/2" above the caudex area to see if you can get a branch or two to grow out of the caudex instead of just the trunk of the adenium plant.

I think I'm going to go about 1/2 way between your suggestions, and graft the cutting onto another plant.

The plant being pruned is a 'Black Ruby x self' , which should be in nice contrast w/ the plant I want to graft it onto.
