More Hoya bragging

What?! You thought I was done bragging about my Hoyas? WRONG!

My original Hoya Fairy descended again and swished her magic wand upon me.

Hoya davidcummingii: The original darling flower Hoya. I'm thinking this one may go in the self-watering pot. One of the super Hoya growers mentioned he could only grow this long-term in Hydroton S/H. Any advice anyone?

H. pallida: Lovely lovely lovely leaves. I also love their flowers.

H. sp. Borneo 93027: The poor baby got her leaf bent :( I saw some pictures of red Eriostemmaish flowers of this species. Needs lots of light and humidity??? Someone please tell me how to take care of this one!

H. carnosa "da Bomb": I can't believe how huge this one is. I was expecting a single rooted cutting! It's hard to tell from the picture, but some leaves have pretty silver flecks. The flowers are supposed to be lime green/cream color. Possibly cv. Cream One. She's going in to a hanging basket as soon as I get my things together.

H. pubicalyx "Dapple Grey": This one is even huger. A 6" basket FULL of cuttings. Leaves are SO pretty. Some say this is a carnosa. Either way, I LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Thanks, Tawny!!!! You are too generous!

    Stunning! I want them!!!! (jk)

Looking good, torty! Sorry your Borneo got it's leaf bent, I packed them pretty tight in there. :| I did not know that about the 'Dapple Gray', but that makes total sense as I have an "heirloom" mysteriosa carnosa that is virtually identical to the 'Dapple Gray'. Yay for more Hoyas!

    Nice hoyas.. congrats!

    Thanks everyone!!

Tawny, Borneo's leaf is already straightening itself!

Where do you get those pots and wire supports? I need to buy some.

I got them from Sophie's Orchids on ebay. If you search "clear square orchid pots", you'll see many vendors selling them. Sophie's Orchids was the most cost effective for my small order. I bought some extra wire support from SRQ before, but now I just make them with Galvanized or coated wire like this. It's cheaper and you can make them as big or small as you like. Chula's Orchids sell pots and wires and other very cool stuff very cheap, but the minimum order is $100.

sp. Borneo 93027 is not an eriostemma. One of my faster growing hoyas. Low maintenance!

    Oh great! Thank you, aurora!

LOVELY plants! I am intrigued by pallida, carnosa "Da Bomb" (never heard of that one), and pubicalyx "Dapple Grey".

    Thanks so much themockturtle.

Thanks, Brad! OK, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have written "da Bomb" like it's a legitimate cultivar name. The seller Tawny got the plant from was not sure which cultivar this was. It's a bit different from regular carnosas and supposed to have lime/cream color flowers. We've been referring to is as "da Bomb" carnosa. Sorry for the confusion.

    You're welcome, Monica!

Lol H. carnosa cv. 'Da Bomb'

So....here's my 'Dapple Gray' next to previously mentioned mysteriosa carnosa. 'Dapple Gray' is on the right, carnosa on the left in both pics:

Lol I gotcha. No confusion at all! I am still intrigued to see if it will bloom lime and cream colored flowers. I have pallida on my wish list. :)

    Brad AKA Moonwolf

@moonwolf, yeah the seller says it blooms lime but occasionally reverts back to cream. i have thousands (okay like dozens) of penducles on mine and am highly anticipating their blooms!

@tawny, it's a good thing there are so many peduncles on your plant, because I bet that it will be quite a sight to see when it blooms :).

I can't wait to see the pics, tawny!!

Brad, pallida is a total awesomesauce. I love the thicker pointy leaves with raised veins.

I'm adding that one to one of the ones I want to acquire this growing season. Lacunosa's one of my favorites, so I will greatly enjoy growing this one when I get it.

Yous guys are making me so jealous!

When the temperature warms up here in another month, I'll be placing a big order with Gardino's. I'm already getting my plant stands/racks ready and my honey do list for my husband to add poles all along our screened porch for hanging pots.

Oh no! I've been struck with the fever!!!!!

Monica (Yous guys - is in the Jersey dictionary lol )

Whatcha gonna get, whatcha gonna get?

Yes, I am curious as to what you are going to order, too Monica. Hey neighbor! I'm to your west here in Central PA :).

    Brad AKA Moonwolf

Correction, I meant Hoya pusilla, not pallida that I have on my wish list. Just was glancing over at Gardino's and I was like "Wait, that's not the one I was thinking of".

    Brad AKA Moonwolf

My list consists of so many starting with:

    Fingii

    Lacunosas

    Heuschkeliana

    Paziae

    Nong Nooch

    cv Ruthie

    Pottsii

    Obscura

    Lobbii

    cv Iris Marie

    H. Cumingiana

I think these may make the next list for Gardino's (if they have them) I also have to keep looking in my local orchid nursery.

Brad AKA Moonwolf - I'm a yankee that's been transplanted in the south.

But you know what they say.....you can take a girl out of Jersey but you can never take the Jersey out of a the girl. I can't tell you how many times I've had to go all Jersey on some people down here. lol

Monica, you should get the obovata if you don't have one already. I got mine from Gardino, and it's growing pretty fast. I love it!. I also want white and pink archies!!

Brad, pusilla is cute. You should get both!

There are bunch of new listings by beastlyflower2012 on ebay right now (some IDs a bit iffy tho). *enabling in full force*

Lol I hear you. I live out in the country, not too far from town, but far enough out of town that's too far to walk lol. It's beautiful here, if not a little closed minded (that's another story). Lived here all my life (going on 26 years next month).

I have fungii and paziae. Both are great plants! Fungii flowered for me, but I must've given away cuttings of the vines that had the peduncles (it's been a couple years since it flowered). I used to have obscura, but it died on me this winter. I never seem to have luck with it. The cuttings I got of obscura "Phillip" are thriving however, and they do have peduncles as well.

@themockturtle, I would love to get both, but I am having space issues currently.

    Brad AKA Moonwolf

themockturtle- I did get an Obovata from Cowboyflowerman on Saturday. I'm keeping an eye on it because it's a little thin and wrinkly. I'll mist the leaves again tomorrow.

Brad AKA Wolfman - I just got the Pusilla from Gardino's - when it grows a little ill send you a cutting. Oh to have such a problem of no room. :-) I'd love to say that someday. :-))

Lol at "Wolfman", that works, too since wolves are one of my favorite animals (hoping to own a Husky someday). That pusilla cutting sounds great! Has it flowered for you yet?

*sigh* Yes, if only I had a greenhouse. Living in a mobile home doesn't provide much space for growing plants, but one makes it work somehow.

    Brad Wolfman AWOOOOOOOOOO!

Hah! I just noticed that! Dang auto correct.

I love wolves too. My brother had 2 Akitas. Those are gorgeous dogs as well. The back of our house is woods which is part of Army Corp of Engineers land (that leads to Falls Lake) and we get packs of coyotes. It's a little eerie when you hear them all howl at once. We understand they do that when they get a kill. As a pack, they usually take down a deer. We also have fox that come through our back yard once in a while. I just have to be vigilant when our 2 dogs (labradoodle & mini golden doodle) are outside.

I just rec'd the Pusilla so no flowers yet. Could it be possible to get flowers this summer already?

*howls back at you, Tawny* ;).

We have coyotes and foxes here, too. We heard coyotes one night when mum and I came home from the hospital after taking dad up there some months back. It was quite awesome, though. We had a fox on our porch when we lived on a different lot years ago (we live in a trailer court). Some nights, but not very often, we get to hear a Great Horned Owl or two hooting outside and those are quite wonderful to hear, too.

Hopefully, your pusilla will flower soon. Lacunosa is a willing bloomer, so maybe pusilla is, too?

    Brad AKA Moonwolf

Brad, I have a nice extra rooted pusilla, if you want it.

Monica, I have a very healthy rooted obovata, and can give you nice cuttings of everything but Ngong Nooch (just acquired that one myself), paziae, and lobbii.
