Hello, Nice pictures, they help. The door area leading outside I would hang long drapery with a valance or swag style in a red shade to match the rug. Move the chair away from the door and place a tall Pole Money Plant" or "Mothers-in -law-tongue" plant in a brown decorative plant pot where the chair was. Where the sofa set is right now, I could see a nice leather set in a brown shade with red/brown throw pillows. Above the sofa set a collage of family photos in brown and red picture frames. The fireplace area for the wall scones maybe change the shades to something more traditional. (You can even purchase cloth and cover them yourself). I would have a traditions piece piece of art, scenery? in the colors of brown, red, white, blue, gold, even a gold frame would be ok or brown. I would add a fireplace tool set a tall one.
