Custom kitchen island cost

Does anyone know what a kitchen island costs? I have an island now but I want something bigger with more of a hang out space feel in my kitchen. No sink or stove top...just cabinets and counter top!

How much is a car? 5K? 50K? Do you want a 10 year old used Honda or a brand new F-150 with specialty paint, a performance engine, leather, and the tow package?

What?? I'm asking for advice, not sarcasm.

With zero information as to cabinet style, quality level, size of the island, configuration of the cabinets in the island, or any clue as to the decorative details no one can give you an eatimate. A 48"x96" island can cost 10K or 60K, depending on all of the details. You provided NO details and we're not psychic.

She is not being sarcastic you ask a question to which there are any number of answers. How big, what is your style what do you want in the island those are all things you need to tell us for any kind of help. Just be aware prices vary greatly all across the country. You could build your own island with just stock cabinets installed back to back to form an island that is 48" by how ever many cabinets you put together and then you add your counter with a 12" overhang for stools with a steel support for the counter to avoid losing seating to corbels.

Her answer is the definition of sarcasm. I realize by your response that I did not give enough information but I think the way you answered back was much more appropriate. Right now my island is about 38 inches by 52 inches. I do not want anything fancy, stock cabinets would be fine and I already have electricity running thru my island. I do not want a sink or stove top in my island. Just a slab of granite on top. This is what I currently have. I sort of want to double the size so it comes out into the dining space slightly. Thank you!

If you have a high end home with a high end kitchen and nicer cabinets, obviously you would want an island that is a higher quality.

Likewise, if you have a tract home with standard "big box store" cabinets, you wouldn't want to go overboard with the cost of an island.

You will want to match the quality of the rest of your kitchen to the quality of the island that you put in.

I know what you mean. If you construct it yourself you will save a ton of money. We are currently doing a large island and I think we will be looking at about 600 dollars. It is mostly cedar and island countertop is Ikea. First time home buyer budget. Don't mind the chaos in the background. It is about half way there right now. Big renovation going on. If you are having it made and installed that is where you can spend lots of money. I hope this is a little helpful.

OK, cheepchinese cabinets with zero decorative end panels or any decorative details whatsoever and a new granite top will be $4, 997.73. Plus installation and deliver costs which will add another $987.23.

Okay you have this as another post you should try to only post one dilemma on a sbject to avoid now having answers on both posts.

There are many cabinets made in the US that would also do the job and the price of granite is all over the map so really not realistic to ask for pricing.

Got it. I think you all have already made the pricing fact known. I'm sorry for asking a question that I know absolutely nothing about. I guess I was looking for people to help by Nicely letting me know I need to ask more questions or helping me by telling me the kinds of questions I should by asking. This subject is closed and if I knew how to delete the question, I would. I'll go and get advice from professionals in my area.

I guess it would depend who you got to build it. My cabinetmaker, an Amish man in NY state would probably charge $500 for a 2' x 6' bank of 9 drawers. The Quartz counter measuring 3' x 7' would cost here (in Canada) $75 a square foot. Hope this was helpful.

In our last home, I wanted to replace the butcher block top of the existing island and I ended up finding a great remnant of quartz that complimented (contrast) the existing granite countertops of the kitchen. You might shave some $$$ off if you can find a remnant to work with.
