Blue bathroom!

hi guys,

i need some advice on what to do with this bathroom!

we will be trying to sell the house in a few months and I've started painting

all bedrooms and "modernising" them up a bit and am now stuck on our ensuite.

it desperately needs to be painted as I cant stand the colour and it has a lot of chips in the wall. So what colour would you suggest? I was thinking either a white with blue tint or grey to go with the accent tiles above the vanity.

Also want to paint the vanity, has anyone had experience in doing this and how well it holds up?

So any suggestions you have will be much appreciated!!!

P.s. My budget won't allow to replace the vanity or to re-tile, as much as I would love to.

thanks in advance!

I have a hard time seeing the colors properly. Are the tiles slightly pink and the vanity, too?

Also, what material is the vanity, wood or laminate? Either way, use a good primer and then something like BM Advance or Cabinet Coat.

The tiles are white and the vanity is very blue laminate.

what colour would you suggest for the vanity?

ive just painted the bedroom to this ensuite grey, so will paint a couple of samples on the wall and post to see your thoughts!

The vanity top is blue, but what color is the wood? It looks tan/beige with a pink hue on my monitor.

the doors on the vanity are grey

Paint everything white. Whoever buys your home will likely want to decorate to suit their own taste and white is the singular color anyone can easily imaging painting over to what ever color they want.

Funny, on my phone, the vanity cabinet looks gray, the accent tile looks gray, the tiles look white.

So, other than going all white, you could also go with a darker gray on the vanity and lighter gray on the walls.

If you go all white, I'd just add some towels in gray from the accent tile and some in blue from the floor tiles and vanity top.

I'd go with the soft gray.

I'd go with a soft pearl or dove grey, but you could also do white.

Are you conidering replacing the vanity counter? A stock grey laminate with a rounded corner from the big box store would at least be something that doesn't say "replace me right away." There are also special paints for coating laminate. I have not worked with them, so I don't know how easy they are to do well, but I've seen a couple of photos over the years. They are not a long term solution, but can buy a couple or few years, so they coud also help neutralize the blue for sale. If the sink and fixture are in good order, you could probaby reuse them. Either of those would be quick and low cost options that could make a big difference in how it shows. I think it is really a bigger issue that the wall paint and not necessarily more cost to address.

    That's a lot of blue!

    You might paint the walls & the vanity a white with just a whisper of gray;

it's a nice soft look (softening that blue!), & it seems to me that crisp white sometimes looks stark & cold & often makes the other things in the room look dingy by comparison.

    Best luck on your sale!
