Sister-in-law's home has a weird 6X8 ft. "alcove" (for lack of a better word) above her front door. Hardwood floor/one window and NO access to it (except a ladder). Whatever we decorate it with is just for looking! She doesn't know what to do with that space, therefore it's been empty for the 5 years they've lived there.

My thoughts are to build bookcases on either side of the window.... maybe a window seat under the window, or simply a cool chaise lounge on an area rug, maybe with a grandfather clock with it. She won't be climbing up to dust, so we don't want much clutter, she decorates very plainly.
