I have a south facing urban(small) backyard, but my yard receives very little light due to trees, shed and fencing. I had a raised bed I used to grow vegetables in last year which used to receive a decent amount of light(6hrs); but this year, the fence and a shed seems to have robbed the light here as well(see attached photo). So I got into thinking of how I can use reflective mulches to bring back the light in this area. Three ideas I have, I wanted to run by and collect thoughts-

1. Using sun tunnels - there is sunlight on the other side of the fence, so theoretically mounting a few aluminum flex tubes(attachment) to collect the sunlight from the top of the fence and direct it to the other side of the fence should work.

   

2. Draping the side of the shed with a reflective thermal blanket(attachment).

   

1. Using reflective mulch on the bed.

What do you think? Anything else I can do?

Fyi- this is the angle of the sun in winter(Boston); I'm hoping the sun will be at a better angle come spring/summer. But it is never bad to be over-prepared.
