I'm thinking it's too late to get a proper dormancy this winter. In two months even in Canada it's going to be spring. Just keep it growing this yr and get chilling next winter. If you really think you must get a dormant period put it in your basement now and leave it there 90 days. Then move it to a shady area outside. Gradually move it to full sun over a couple weeks time. Do that only if your basement stays below 10-12C. Warmer than that and it won't get chilling. In a warm dark basement it will probably die.

If you continue as is and move outside after temperatures quit going below freezing it's not going to go dormant. That's spring and time for it to grow not go dormant.
